Apple certificates are issued for a specific device UDID, so the existing certificate files cannot simply be copied to a new iPhone or iPad. However, AppTesters offers device-change options based on your plan.

Device-change policy by plan

  • Ultimate: Includes up to two device changes in total within five years, at no additional charge.
  • Premium: A device change is available for a $10 fee.
  • Essential: Does not include a device-change option. A new certificate purchase is required for the new device.

How a device change works

A new iPhone or iPad has a different UDID. AppTesters must register the new UDID and issue new certificate and provisioning files; the files issued for the old device do not become valid for the new device.

Contact AppTesters support before submitting another order. Include your order email, current plan, old UDID, and new UDID. Support will verify the available device-change benefit or fee and explain the next steps.

A device change is for moving your plan to the new UDID. It should not be treated as adding simultaneous coverage for a second device. If you want certificate access on both an iPhone and an iPad, each device must have its own applicable registration or plan.

If Apple replaces the device under warranty

The same plan-based device-change policy applies. Contact support with your original order information, old UDID, new UDID, and any available device-replacement documentation. An Ultimate device change uses one of the two included changes, a Premium device change costs $10, and Essential does not include a device change.

Before changing devices

  • Back up important app data before replacing or reinstalling apps.
  • Keep a record of the original order and old UDID.
  • Verify the new UDID carefully before submitting it.
  • Do not assume that the old certificate files or app data will transfer automatically.

Apple may apply eligibility or registration restrictions to a new UDID. AppTesters cannot bypass Apple's systems, but support can explain the available next step if a restriction is reported.
